Spreading Care, Compassion, and
Joy Through Community Service
On 05/05/2026, the Department of Community Medicine, AHMC, organized a visit to Seon Ashram,
Gandibagilu, Belthangady, a home for 385 physically and mentally challenged destitute individuals
receiving free care under the guidance of Dr. U. C. Paulose. Students and staff interacted with the
inmates through activities such as painting, singing, object identification, and games. Food grains and
donations contributed by the staff and students of Alva’s Homoeopathic Medical College, Mijar, were
handed over to the Ashram management. The visit was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Bibi
Asma Desai (HoD & Professor), Dr. Sudhamati (Professor), and Dr. Sharath Mandicha (Associate
Professor), Department of Community Medicine.
Fostering Curiosity, Inspiring Research
The Student Research Forum (SRF) of Alva's Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital organized the
"Quest for Knowledge – Research Workshop" on 13 June 2026 in the Seminar Hall, with 80 students
participating enthusiastically. Dr. Sushikshitha S. A., Assistant Professor, Department of Human
Physiology and Biochemistry, introduced the fundamentals and types of research, while Dr.
Shriraksha, Associate Professor, Department of Repertory, delivered an insightful session on
formulating research questions and conducting literature reviews. The workshop received positive
feedback from participants, enhanced awareness of research methodology, and motivated students
to engage in scientific inquiry. Encouraged by the overwhelming response, the Student Research
Forum announced plans to continue the initiative as a weekly Saturday research learning series
covering various aspects of research and scientific writing.
